Background
Last September, the users "PooseyII" and "Simply The Best" joined the thread "Xerobank questions ?" on Wilders Security Forums. By early October, they had become increasingly abusive, and their accounts were deleted. Immediately thereafter, posts about that, and caricatures of Wilders posts, began appearing in the Usenet groups alt.privacy, alt.privacy.anon-server, sci.crypt, alt.comp.freeware and others. In December, the user "EminenceFront" appeared on Wilders, went postal, and was booted.
Among the participants in those Usenet caricatures was "here'smypants <[email protected]>", an obvious play on my Wilders handle, hierophant. Although I appreciate that I can't censor Usenet, I've created this website as a forum for my response. I've also created "[email protected]". Obligingly, both soon appeared in my fictitious Usenet sig.
This has not been a minor effort. There have been hundreds of Usenet posts caricaturing Wilders. Unless it's automated, someone -- or perhaps a group -- is spending considerable time doing this. Who are they, and why are they doing this?
What I know so far is that many of the sardonic posts have come from the host "$$5lonjgdxpj7l67.news.x-privat.org". I also know that this entity has been fighting on Usenet, with itself and others, for at least five years.
